F2 Pombo Rock Yellowchin (Protomelas Taenilatus) “Pombo Reef”
F2 Taiwan Reef African Cichlid
Scientific Name: Protomelas sp. “Steveni Taiwan”
Common Name: Taiwan Reef Cichlid
Generation: F2
The F2 Taiwan Reef African Cichlid is a spectacular Lake Malawi Hap known for the incredible coloration mature males can develop. Adult males typically display a combination of electric blue across the head and upper body, rich red to orange coloration through the lower body, and contrasting yellow or orange highlights in the fins.
The F2 designation indicates these fish are second-generation descendants from the breeder’s original wild-line stock, making them especially desirable for hobbyists and breeders interested in maintaining strong lineage and natural characteristics.
Juveniles and females are considerably more subdued than mature males, so young fish may not yet show the dramatic coloration associated with adult Taiwan Reefs. Genetics, maturity, diet, social hierarchy, and water quality all influence final coloration.
